My paintings reflect comfort, and I strive to create a feeling of peace and relaxation when my artwork is being viewed. I prefer soft colors as opposed to strong, dense colors. My work is very detailed, even though I use a large brush.
There have been four people who have significantly influenced my art work.
- Stephanie Morris, of Mobile Alabama. She is a well-known artist in the Mobile area. Ms. Morris has always given me excellent and constructive criticism on my work. She has helped me challenge and further my artistic ability, and she has been a wonderful moral support system. She carries a joyful radiance about her, and she was the person who encouraged me to pray for the individual I am painting. This prayer and focus help me as I paint and get to know my subjects.
- William C. Morris of Mobile Alabama – I know him as Bill. He is also very well-known in Mobile, and he is active in numerous artistic organizations. He enjoys painting wildlife, and he has won the Federal Duck Stamp contest four times. He has provided me much encouragement over the years, and he has showered me with positive feedback and tips to improve my work.
- Michael Shane Neal, Nashville, TN. I have been fortunate to attend his workshops, in which he emphasizes the concept of “value.” He has been a strong influence on my style of art work, and he is a very good teacher and a wonderful person. He has recently completed a commission for Former Supreme Court Judge Sandra Day O’Connor.
- Jason Saunders, Nashville, TN. Jason is a landscape artist, and he is well-known in the Nashville area. I had the privilege to attend one of his workshops, and it was very challenging and enjoyable. It enhanced my knowledge of painting outdoors and placing an image on the canvas from personal observation, which is very different from working with a photograph.
Veronica has a wonderful talent and ability to paint with feeling and to depict her subjects beautifully.
